HB Hekwerk was awarded the contract to reinstall the fencing at the environmental park on Melanchthonweg in Rotterdam. The existing fencing was removed and relocated to a new position. An interesting project, with one important requirement: all work had to be carried out entirely with electric equipment.
"The challenge on this project was that everything had to be done electrically," says Freddy Palm of HB Hekwerk.
In addition to an electric wheel loader, HB Hekwerk did not yet have the right electric equipment for the job. That is why Schoonhoven Service supplied a Limach E20.3 together with a PB50 Powerbank, enabling the entire project to be completed emission-free.
Power wherever you need it
Although a fixed charging point was available on site, it was located on the opposite side of the work area. Reaching it meant driving the excavator for more than ten minutes, and there was no guarantee that the charging station would be available due to other electric equipment being charged.
The PB50 Powerbank proved to be the ideal solution. Mounted on a trailer close to the worksite, it provided the team with their own mobile charging station. This kept travel time to a minimum and eliminated unnecessary downtime.
Ready for the next day
At the end of each working day, the Limach E20.3 was connected to the Powerbank, ensuring it was fully ready for the next morning.
Even more impressive was the machine's battery performance. After a full day's work, the E20.3 still had more than half of its battery capacity remaining. The 50 kWh PB50 Powerbank was then able to fully recharge the excavator twice. Over the course of the three-day project, the team even finished with battery capacity to spare.
Zero-Emission without compromise
For HB Hekwerk, the combination of the Limach E20.3 and the PB50 Powerbank proved that working emission-free doesn't have to come at the expense of productivity.
"We're very pleased with the Limach E20.3," says Freddy. "It's nice and quiet, which means we can communicate easily while we're working. Good communication is essential in our line of work."
With enough battery capacity for a full working day and a dedicated charging solution on site, the team was able to complete the project efficiently and without unnecessary downtime.
